A few years back there was a lot of talk about young folks that wanted to get into farming. I didn’t realize what all the hype was about until I looked at the local news. During this time hemp became very popular down south so companies were looking to pour many into the local farms if they were willing to plant hemp.
Of top some folks thought it was marijuana. Boy if you knew how many people thought they won the lottery; while under the impression they would be seeing miles of weed plants everywhere. I mean people can’t even stand dirt but were showing interest in farming, horticulture, irrigation, and much more.
After some ground rules were set and many people realized it wasn’t the Mary Jane they were hoping for; the thrill quickly died down.
I wonder if those same folks would help me advertise the seed I’m trying to plant? The creator of the seed I’m trying to plant actually created hemp. Crazy thing about it is- He is the creator of all things but the hype of hemp fields gets pushed more than the Good News.
Back in the day folks were used to hearing about God’s love in church. On Sundays or during a certain time of the day you may hear it on the radio. Funny thing is it used to be in schools. It used to be displayed on billboards. Discussions were had in the beauty salons, barber shops, grocery store, or department stores.
Nowadays there is an app for this or an app for that, TikTok, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, FB, and more. We are living in a time where everything has to be viewed in under 45 seconds or it’s boring, too long, irrelevant, or simply ignored.
There are a select few who still like to read the Word. They still like to spread the Word. And they still tend to the soil in their own gardens and prune the weeds and things of that nature. Yes there are still some of us whom still exist. We may be smaller in number but like Rev H. says, “we are big in heart/love!”
Now here is the amazing news about how our God works. He will use any of us, in every situation, through many circumstances to shine His light and show His love. I’ll give an example:
On yesterday we had gathered together for Wednesday night fellowship and it was a blessing. The Koinonia Womens Support group was introduced to D’Etta. If you met this beautiful butterfly, you would fall in love with her just like I did. Her spirit and her smile were simply captivating! Her charisma, spunk, and tenacity were contagious. I had never met someone so full of life and zest. Within ten minutes I asked Kelly if I could take her home 😉.
Like Willie, she was a God send. She came in just at the right time. It could not have been more perfect. And then to put the icing on the cake she gave me confirmation by using the term planting seeds in a very thought provoking message. Her wisdom, smile, calmness, and personality was so refreshing and much needed. Her presence was an answer to prayer.
God placed it on my heart to tell my sisters and brothers that we have to make sure we aren’t just planting seeds but we are planting good seeds. We must make sure we are watering the seed, tending to it, picking the weeds up, checking the soil, etc. It’s easy to plant a seed but it’s the maintaining and helping it to grow that requires work, patience, time, being steadfast, and diligent.
We have to get the Word out- it’s plenty of people in our household, our families, our neighborhood, our community, our social club, our work places, and our schools are looking to hear about God. They want to know more about salvation, living for Christ, they want to know about God’s love, etc.
Just like God used Willie and D’Etta to help water the seed of patience and understanding for me; God is using each of you. You help those who want to know Jesus through the way you live, the way you praise, and the way you testify.
There is a great work left to be done. There is a great Word that needs to be spread. God has prepared the way and given us His word; are you ready to go to work? Where my farmers at) We’ve got to till the soil. God’s word (the seed) is being planted. Our faith will water it, and then it will be time to pluck, feed, and serve.
While we are on the journey we may experience some areas that have some thorns, weeds, and sprouts but by the power of prayer and God’s grace- all it takes is a good Word and trusting in God.
We can plant seeds of confusion, misunderstandings, emptiness, sorrow, and hate BUT what will come of it? What will we gain?
God’s Word is here ready to be spread. It has more healing powers than hemp ever can. It’s free to all who wish hear and see. You don’t have to wait for the manager to restock his product; it’s stays on every shelf near you. Let the consumers know it even has an affordable price. It’s packets of joy, envelopes of love, and a suitcase full of God’s word that is packaged and ready for delivery. Are you ready for your assignment? Whenever you get ready make sure you pick of your container of seed to pass along to anyone who is willing to listen.
God’s Word is the best seed to plant hands down. I pray this encourages you to always speak good and to plant good seeds. This world will be a better place because of YOU!
Amen.
Last night was full of Love, fun, amd compassion. The Lord Blessed us with Mrs. D’Etta and she was so spunky, loving, scarasmstic, and a fireball of energy, something that is new and fresh we all look forward to. I am so glad that God is sending his people to us and strengthening us as women. Not only sending her but also Mrs. Marcella’s Granddaughter was in labor which marked a special day for Kelly as well. I mean the night couldn’t have been more perfect and for us to do yoga!! This was an answer to my prayers. I just thank God for all the love, care, and compassion that was showed to us last night along with the fun and funny moments. I mean D’Etta’s infectious smile was so angelic. I just thank God for continuing to send his angels and people to us to encourage us and to make us stronger in Christ. What a Mighty God We Serve! Amen!
Perfectly written. Beautiful synopsis of the Godly time we had together last night!
Amen.
This message was the confirmation I needed. I need to get back on my walk with God. And spread the word of God. Just yesterday somebody near and dear to me asked if I went to church. I responded, I haven’t been in a while, but I need to start back. They then asked when I do go could they go with me? I responded you sure can.
Now look at God! What a blessing you are and that person was to you.
You spread the love of God and word of God through the work God called you to do. The attention and time you spend with those babies and their families, God sees you. Continue spreading His love through your tender care.
Such a great Wednesday back in person!
Love D’Etta! Welcome to our group!
Whitnee, your message is right on!!♥️
It was a beautiful welcome back in person time together. Yes I love, love, LOVE D’Etta!
To God be the glory!
