I was newly married, only 20 years old, and lacked the full sense of what it truly meant to be a responsible adult when I first became a mother. Who would have ever known sixteen years ago this month we would be raising a young king named Micah?! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Did I ever tell you what your name meant? It means who is like God? <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are several Micah\u2019s in the Bible, specifically the Old Testament and they are known for standing up for oppressed people, bringing Justice for the unjust, and speaking on the prophesy of the downfall of Judah and Israel. In the Bible the Book of Micah talks about how God is just, yet merciful. Micah was also known for providing hope to people. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You were my first miracle! When I was younger it was told I wouldn\u2019t be able to have kids due to a surgery I had at a very young age. When I was pregnant with you I was misdiagnosed and it caused much heartache. You were calm and gentle in my womb, just as you are now. You would make my belly move in a way that I would have never imagined, just as you make my heart soar when I think of the young man you are growing to be. For 9 months and 2\/1\/2 weeks I grew to love you as you formed inside my stomach. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The moment I first laid eyes on you, it was love at first sight. Though it was love at first sight as soon as your dad brought you close to my face, I vomited. I never could understand why it happened, but two pregnancies later I realized it was my reaction to the anesthesia. Nevertheless I would do it all over again if it meant I gave birth to a gentle, strong giant like you. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When you were younger you would talk one million miles a minute but now we can barely get two words out of you. If it\u2019s not about basketball, earning money, or school- you are truly a young man of few words. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Micah you are a young man of resilience, courage, wisdom, discernment, strength, discipline, determination, focus, and humility. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m so thankful God blessed me to be your mother. You\u2019ve made me one proud mother who looks forward to your bright future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Always follow Christ, always stay true to yourself, remain humble, eager to help others, hardworking, loyal, trustworthy, determined, dedicated, and never quit- be forever resilient! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The road you\u2019ve gone down has not been an easy one. You\u2019ve slept in a family shelter, in a car, on the floor, a mold infested house, and have gone to place to place over the years- but no matter how many places you slept or where you slept- you never complained and you always made it a home. Your big heart, your smile, and your love for God and people has ALWAYS turned the lemons being thrown into the sweetest lemonade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No matter how many offensive fouls, how many times you failed your beginners permit test, how many times you got picked at because of your height or your fit, no matter how many times you\u2019ve hurt your ankle or back, been overlooked, mistreated by peers, or even felt hopeless with Grandma passed away; Micah you kept on going!!! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Son in this world you may come to a place where the road is a little bumpy, you might stumble over some gravel (adversity), you might hit a few speed bumps (conflict, disappointment, etc.), you might even get to a point where you have a flat tire or a stalled engine (figuratively speaking) B<\/em>UT I URGE YOU TO NEVER GIVE UP! <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

You\u2019re words are few, but they are mighty! You are powerful and you serve a POWERFUL GOD! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

No matter how far you go with basketball, the navy, or whatever you set your mind to\u2026remember I\u2019ll always love you, I\u2019ve always loved you, and I am so proud you are my baby boy (even at 16)! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I know your birthday was on the 6th but the card I brought for you didn\u2019t have enough space and couldn\u2019t capture all the love I have for you! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
