Opening the door to God’s word.

Continue earnestly in prayer, being diligent in it with thanksgiving; meanwhile praying also for us, that God would open to us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains, that I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak. Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you are to answer each one.
Colossians 4:2-6 NKJV

You never know where you are, when you will run into, or have to speak on God’s love. His praise should continually be in our mouth and if we have that praise in our mouth then we should never be afraid to tell someone about His love.

I was in Walmart on this past Saturday and I ran into two old friends- one from school and one from work. I hadn’t seen them in a while and it was funny we recognized each other our masks and other face coverings.

From the parking lot I saw someone staring at us. I couldn’t figure out whether they thought we looked familiar or if they were just being nosey. Either way, you never know when or who is watching you so like verse 6 says, “Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.”

If and when someone who questions their faith, doesn’t believe in the same God you serve, or rebukes religion all together you never know what type of conversation you could have. Your walk in Walmart might turn into a parking lot praise show down so always be on guard. Speak life into God’s word and share His love with His people.

To the person who was staring out of their rear view mirror I pray you saw the love of Christ in us and I pray it blessed your soul. Next time speak and I’ll make sure to wave and reply, “Be blessed.”

  1. Good morning. Prayers to you and your family. I pray Mom is doing well. Just want to let you know that I enjoyed this morning talk. If anyone looks up the word disciple in the dictionary there is a picture of of you. God doesn’t have many true disciples on this earth; but I count you as one. (your Dad would be so proud)
    Much Love

    1. Geneva, I know your switch is getting longer and longer by the day.

I can’t wait until I can see everything you have been working on and how you have inspired others with your BEAUTIFUL art work! I smile every time I go in from front room and see my family tree that you so effortlessly and beautifully did.

You are too kind. I love you too!

  2. Amen. You just might have saved someone from themselves. That’s why they couldn’t stop staring…I remember Columbia College days, we were in a philosophy class, and we were speaking about religion, A Christian classmates was sharing a story about how she got lost in the woods and she prayed to God for a bird to follow so she could find her way out….And he did….The professor stated so what’s your point? She stated that God is just so wonderful. I thought I’d share with the class. WHILE I smiled at her and my heart warmed on the inside, Almost the entire class laughed at her. She was so puzzled and couldn’t understand why and started to get upset, md being the person who I am politely tapped her shoulder and told her it’s ok. Everyone in this class is not a Christian, so instead of being defensive which I understand, go ahead and expect reactions like this. Don’t break your character for anyone. But she was still upset. And caused such a commotion we all had to leave the class. She even got it the professor upset. I remember him shouting her name Marcella calm down! She never got an apology or anything. We were just told if you don’t agree with someone ‘s religion, then don’t comment. I mean there were at of atheists in there just laughing and calling Chtistians and every other religion. Man oh man. I actually applaud Marcella for standing firm, but sometimes silence and your actions are best. Me then of course I didn’t say anything not that I wasn’t a Christian, I didn’t want any confusion, Me Now , sure let me tell you what God has done for me, you can either choose to listen or walk away. Choice is yours. Thanks Whitnee. Now you got me thinking on how I will open my door another way to spread God’s word.

    1. To God be the glory. Your trip down memory lane puts me in the mindset of Ecclesiastes. We all know there is a season for everything under the sun. Faith this is your season to spread God’s love.
