No matter how bad it got, no matter how troubled I was; I never lost hope!

In the book of 2 Chronicles we read about a king by name of Jehoshaphat. King Jehoshaphat was king of Judah. Three groups listed as “a great multitude” came to destroy his land. The great multitude included the Moabites, the Ammonites, and the people of Mount Seir. Their goal was to attack Jerusalem.

King Jehoshaphat naturally was afraid, I mean who wouldn’t be right?!! Instead of panicking King Jehoshaphat issued a fast through all of the land. Instead of exhibiting fear, King Jehoshaphat showed his people where his faith lied.

In your opinion how important do you think it was for King Jehoshaphat to bring his people together in prayer verses displaying fearful behavior which would have caused fear to spread throughout Judah?

King Jehoshaphat set the tone for his people. He displayed infinite wisdom showing that no matter who or how many people rose against him; he would trust God to protect his people.

The Bible tells us that King Jehoshaphat being the ruler that he was even had to come before the Lord with weakness and humility. He knew that he was nothing without God. He knew he could do nothing without God. He knew that fear would have overcome him had it not been for his hope in the Lord.

Just as King Jehoshaphat went before the Lord in prayer, we do as well. It’s often times we try to take things into our own hands that we realize we are helpless. It’s when we realize this and we trust God with all our being that we show our need for Him.

Moral of today’s story is we should never loose sight of God and His infinite power. We should never loose sight of God’s authority.

Speaking from personal experience I want you to know that no matter how bad things get, how rough the road is, or how strong the storms are; we should never loose hope. We should stand tall on our faith and know that the Lord knows all about it and everything we face- the Lord is with us.

Sometimes we fear things because we feel like we are alone but God never leaves us alone. In fact He said He will fight our battles for us- and for us to start the fight we should pray and fast.

Again no matter how rough things may seem to be, no matter how foggy the circumstances become, and no matter how impossible things are at the moment REST AND BE ASSURED God holds ALL POWER in His hands, He is faithful, and He is a just God. Trust God and His process- He won’t fail you!!

  1. I believe King Jehoshaphat made the right decision to remain faithful and do the right thing regardless of how he felt. We have to do the right thing regardless because our emotions will lead us astray sometimes. We have to Trust God and pray for strength and in this case bravery. Good Read.
