Ballin like Curry (NEVER GIVE UP)!!!

Hi friends,

I have a story tell you. The story is about a young woman who always settled for what she thought she deserved or what she thought she could afford or what people said she needed.

One day this young woman was looking online dreaming. It just so happened she was dreaming about a future home for her family BUT then reality kicked in. This young woman knew she did not have very much money and that some of the bad decisions she had made in the past hindered her from accomplishing some of her dreams. Or so she thought!!!!!

Years went by and opportunities came and gone but none that would land her a home for her and her family. But one day she started speaking life over her future and the plans she knew God had for her and her family.

So here we are years later. The year 2020 came and this young lady started off with a rocky start. In February her mom was diagnosed with throat cancer. In March coronavirus officially came to her home state and rocked her world (not in a good way). April was a blur and May came and it was time for her to make a journey she never had to face before. On May 28th she found out news that could have changed everything forever, but God stepped in right on time. With less than 1 day to make a decision, this young lady made the decision to accompany her mom to MUSC for surgery. She was in it for the long haul.

The long haul was supposed to be only 2 weeks. 2 weeks turned into 32-33 long, hard, tear jerking, yet satisfying, hope filled, joyous days. This woman watched her mom make it out of a 20+ hour surgery, sit in MICU, go to STICU, go to the “regular floor, back down to STICU, to the operating table, back to the “regular floor”, and finally make the long trip from Charleston back to live with her daughter.

From July, August, September through October they had some ups and down, a few health scares, one ER visit, several doc apts, and so much more.

This young woman in the midst of it all worked full time (never took a day off), saw to it that her kids excelled in virtual school to the best of their knowledge, cook, clean, attend class at the Seminary, and never stopped searching for a home.

The beginning of October she had received notification that she was pre-approved to buy a home. A few days after mold was detected in the room her mom had been living in since the day they returned home from the hospital.

So one day she told her husband, “I wish when we do move and find a home for our family we could buy things brand new.” The young woman had always received “hand me downs” from her mom or aunt, shopped at thrift stores, and even picked up pieces on the side of the road. Yes, this girl had no pride! She knew she had to make the most of what she had with what she had.

God heard her prayers. He answered but just not in the way she was expecting!!!!

On October 29th, this young woman went to the doctor. She had recently been having shortness of breathe, ear aches, headaches, you name it. A few weeks back mold was discovered in her home, she is highly allergic to mold. Her doctor told her if she wanted to breathe she would leave her home. So she did just that.

The next 19 days the young woman and her husband, their three children, and the grandmother resided in a single hotel room with two beds and pull out bed. It was a rough 19 days with lots of uncertainty of where they would end up. The husband went back and fourth to the house and noticed that the mold had spread. The young lady tried to help her husband and ended up in the ER with tightness of chest and trouble breathing.

In November the young woman had to get out of the hotel because the price was exhausting her savings. She still had the goal of becoming a homeowner. Her and her family made the transition to stay at her moms house. The moms house had needed repairs so she worked hard to see that those repairs were completed prior to going into the home.

So here we are present day. The young woman went out day in and day out looking at houses. Before she could put offers in the houses we were no longer available. The two she was able to put an offer in for, she was outbid. The young woman was sad but still had hope!

The young woman read Psalm 28 and claimed it for her and her family.

Two days ago the young woman was feeling mighty low and she walked through her home and looked at all that was ruined. But yet she kept the faith! She knew things would get better in God’s timing. She didn’t give up and she sure didn’t stop in the midst of her trials. She had some visuals to help her a long the way along with a HOST of prayer warriors to help her through the hard times.

If that wasn’t enough, on her way up from what used to be her family room she stumbled upon a book that was on a pile of soiled clothes. The clothes had been saturated in mold control and bleach by someone who made the situation so much more worse than it had to be. The book speaks for itself. The young woman had the same determination that this little boy we now know as Stephen Curry had.

Inside was a note made out to youngest son, William. The message motivated me to keep on pushing!

Here’s a little of how his (Stephen Curry) story went:

If you haven’t realized by now the young woman from the story is me. Please see what the back of the book says, I pray it encourages you as it truly brought encouragement to me.

Blessed be the Lord,
Because He has heard the voice of my supplications!
The Lord is my strength and my shield;
My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped;
Therefore my heart greatly rejoices,
And with my song I will praise Him.
The Lord is their strength,
And He is the saving refuge of His anointed.
Save Your people,
And bless their inheritance:
Shephard them also.
And bear them up forever.

Psalm 28:6-9 NKJV

Moral of the story!!!

I DIDN’T AND GUESS WHAT YA’LL. Right when I said I was going to put a pause on looking at house because I was starting to feel overwhelmed and needed to shift gears in hopes of trying to recover damages from my house with the mold and all…Ms Rita said, “when we are resting God is at work.” God worked His mighty power quick, fast and in a hurry. Jasmine text me and said “Whitnee’ stop what you are doing and check this house out RIGHT NOW.”

So I did and I sent the listing to my realtor. It had only been on the market 5 hours. Our truck had been down since someone stole the tires and ruined the engine and on Tuesday on my way home from the doctor my moms car went up in smoke and all the oil leaked out of the car under her carport- so we had no transportation but that didn’t stop us. We went and looked at it last night and it was so sweet Rico and I held hands and walked around the backyard- when we went inside it was so warm and welcoming. Though it was smaller than the other houses we looked at and farther than the other homes we looked at IT WAS PERFECT FOR OUR FAMILY. We would still have projects but they could be done over time and with love.

I rested BUT yet a moment and God used Jasmine to bless me. I got the call this morning OUR OFFER WAS ACCEPTED!!! We GOT THE HOUSE!!!!

Listen my brothers and sisters. We have no car, not a lot of money, 95% of our items is going to the trash due to the mold or being destroyed by chemicals/bleach due to the negligence of another, and we have been sleeping on air mattresses in my moms living room BUT WE NEVER STOPPED PRAISING GOD- WE NEVER STOPPED BELIEVING IN GOD’S WORD, and although very close to it WE NEVER GAVE UP!

The house is coming, the items will come if we work hard and save we will get back what we lost but BETTER and the cars that someone tried to steal and ultimately sabotaged will be replaced and I claim it in the precious name of Jesus. So friends don’t be discouraged and don’t ever forget how God is working things out for your good. He is saying to you right now:
