Have you ever been stuck in the mud before? What did you do, how did you get out, did things get worse before they got better?
I’ve been stuck in the mud before but never LITERALLY stuck in the mud until yesterday. (Picture below)
I know some of you may be wondering how in the world did I do this? Sit back and let’s go down memory lane together.
It started at about 645 yesterday morning. I had woken up a few times during the night but did not get up until about 645 am. I had gone upstairs to do my morning routine and as I tip toed down the steps trying to avoid waking my mom up I noticed it was raining. My first thought was “great moving in the room sure is fine!!”
I was already a little edge because my body was a little sore from assisting Micah, Emmanuel, and Rico the day before load the Uhaul. We’ve never had much help, as a matter of fact it’s normally Rico and I moving all of our things so to have Micah and Emmanuel join us was nice. It was a teachable moment and they got to show their mom and dad how “real men” work or so they say.
Time was of the essence and it seemed like everything kept us from getting to our destination on time. I had to have the uhaul back by 10am so I wouldn’t be charged for an extra day but that surely did not happen.
You see the day before while we were loading the vehicle or preparing our minds for the task ahead Rico had just received a call that one of his close friends had been gunned down and murdered.
Rico who normally holds his composure was heart broken, which is anyone’s normal reaction, but he cried. Seeing him cry made me sad and all I could do was hold him and wipe the tears that ran down his cold cheek. He listened to his music and as he listened, he cried.
A moment went by that the time stood still. I hugged him from behind and began to squeeze him ever so gently and then we danced. It had been so long since we danced so I held him and we just danced. It was beautiful!
The moment ended and we got back to moving. Unfortunately we missed the storage unit by 8 minutes which brings us back to where I left off when I said time is off the essence.
So because it had been raining and the weight of the loaded truck, the tires got bogged down. I was devastated, I was helpless, I was sad, I was numb.
Rico tried everything he could to try and get the truck to go forward or move backwards. Nothing worked! He went for a morning “pick me up” and I sat in the truck praying and calling on the name of Jesus. I had just finished listening to a message where the scripture WITH GOD NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE was the key message.
In this situation I knew God and only God could get us out of this situation. After nervously telling my mom I was stuck and looking at the time (it was about 920) I knew there was no way possible I could get the uhual unloaded and back in time before 10am. So I did what any sensible person would do- I called Roadside Assistance.
Imperial Towing came out and saved the day.
I thought I would be relieved but I wasn’t, I was still numb. I looked at my moms yard and I just held my head down. I didn’t know how I could possibly fix this and I was worried that the uhual Bill just got really, really expensive.
After it was all said and done Rico’s cousin Mickey came to the rescue. While I was still in a state of shock he picked up where my brain left off. We got the things unloaded, Rico and Mickey took the truck to the car wash, we fueled up, and returned it back in one piece.
My feelings were hurt, my pockets were hurt when I got the final Bill BUT God rescued us. He showed us that with a little patience, prayer, and hope NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE WITH GOD!
So if you don’t get anything else from this message please remember do not drive a loaded uhual truck through wet grass- YOU WILL GET STUCK LIKE CHUCK!
Shout out to Imperial Towing of S.C…You guys rock!!!
Stuck in the mud….Of course I have been stuck in the mud before…..literally and my definition of mud has difference meanings, mud has been the following to me: an unhealthy relationship on repeat and I am trying to press the skip button, but it always get put on repeat or is on the back button, a selfish boss, depression, anger, others that I choose not to share, but you get my drift….Now what pushed me out of the mud….of course Our Heavenly Father…and Lord knows I have been stuck more than once, more than twice, I felt like I was sinking in the mud…..But I am so glad for my best friend Whitnee, the Women Support Group, and Family for encouragement. Proverbs 18:24 says: A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. Another favorite verse that I like says ” Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.” Come on Somebody!!! Aren’t you Glad you have a friend that can “iron” you out when you need it? Iron out some of those wrinkles so you can shine like a Diamond. Or how about Sharpens you point that you don’t break? Can you say you have a friend like that? What about Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 says Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! Again, if two lie together, they keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone? And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken. OH Hallelujah somebody!!! I was feeling low…but now I can dance dance dance all night! If you say you don’t have a friend or friendsssss…You have 1 friend that surpasses alllllllll the qualifications of a friend. And his name is Jesus!!! He is the Alpha and Omega. The Begining and the End. He will be you friend to the end and the ONLY one to get you out of any “MUD” that you may be in. # TEAM JESUS
And He is the only friend to lift you up and make you whole again!
Thank you Lord for picking us up, cleaning us off, and making us brand new again!
