I received a text on yesterday and oh how God used my sweet Angel on earth to bless my spirit. Her messages have set the bar very high the last few days of how God can use any and every situation to bring a blessing to others. Check it out:
…but I stop and ask myself would God have me to go somewhere he has not prepared my path? When God spoke to Abraham to move to a new land; he didn’t question God about how far, how long would it take to get there, what do I need to take, what will I eat. He trusted God took his family and livestock and headed out for the promised land. I found strength from that passage l looking forward to my move now because I know God is walking with me on my journey. Wherever it leads me I have no fear because I know with out a doubt God has everything under control. Our paths are already mapped out at our conception…I have finished my assignment here. It is time for me to move on I will go wherever He leads me. Lord if you need someone to go; send me I’ll go!
Her testimony and perfect summary of Genesis 12 truly blessed me. I mean y’all don’t know how joyous of a time I had in the office wrapped up in the Word as I reflected over what my dear friend had written to me. Her words have done something to me again as I write this post. May God richly bless my friend on her next chapter and may everyone who crosses her path be equally blessed with her wisdom, light, and angelic heart. She is truly one of many angels on earth, but by far one of the most sophisticated ones I’ve ever met!
So as I read over Genesis chapter 12, I thought back to a paper that Faith wrote in her English class. Her paper was phenomenal to the point I’ve asked her could she share and be my featured inspiration in the near future. This paper truly inspired me and thanks to the wisdom of her late brother, Marc D. I came up with the title to todays message. He always called her Snookie, and while Faith affectionally known to her brother as Snookie, was a young age he taught her this:
As much as Marc encouraged his sister and ultimately led her to her life mission, to inform people about diabetes education and to help the underserved community make better food choices while providing hearty yet healthy meals to the elderly, homeless, and community….she uses the “obedience piece” to end the generational struggle of diabetes by choosing a different path for her children. So yes that means her kids don’t get the food cooked in Crisco lard or fatback. Though if you look at little Madison you would think she wasn’t a stranger to a piece of jowl!
And going back to the testimony of my sweet friend; within the blink of an eye she was able to deposit the positives into her tree trunk of godly thoughts using the story of Abram and Sarai as her encouragement while leaving the doubt, fear, and unknowns of moving.
Though I’m not surprised she came to this epiphany, I won’t lie, I’m sure going to miss her. It makes me think I need to make the time to visit my friends and family more while they are in driving distance because when they are far away like Aunt Earlene I don’t get to get her macaroni and cheese, pecan tarts, liver and onions, and rutabaga like I used to.
Side bar: Todays message is not about food but it’s okay to grab a snack if you feeling hungry. I’m not even going to cap, I want a piece of Madison’s jowl with a side of grits and salmon Patties right about now! 😊
But like Abram, God will use this lady of valor and honor to bless new people. And then those people will be able to bless others. That is the wonderful works of our God.
I know I’ve given a lot of examples, a lot of testimonies, and a lot of good food vibes but now I want to provide you with the thoughts God placed on my heart after reading Genesis 12:
- If we allow God to take control and have His way in our lives, our obedience will yield blessings.
- Obedience is a very important component of our faith.
- We have to believe that God will keep His promises just as he did with Abram. Abram followed God’s commands and he eventually inherited Canaan.
- We have to rely on God even in times when we don’t know which way to turn. In those situations seek God, fast, pray, meditate, and wait on God.
- In this life we are going to have hardships. This does not mean we are being punished or that adversity only happens to people who sin. God will use these times to help strengthen us and deepen our dependence on Him.
- When God sees we are being faithful and putting in that work; He blesses our commitment.
- God is the real deal. No tricks, no trades, no foolishness!
- God wants to bless us. ITS JUST THAT SIMPLE!
- My Bible says: “Abram had to learn that trusting God means looking beyond what we can see to what God sees. God does not need our half-truths and lies in order to protect and bless us.”
God is calling each of us, especially in times such as these, to remain obedient. God wants us to listen as we are going over listening to God in a 5 week series I’m hearing His voice so clearly. I’ve learned to quiet my spirit to hear His words. It’s a beautiful thing but I tell you one human to another, don’t be as hard headed as me. The road probably would not have been as hard had I listened the first time.
It is not hurting us to be obedient but it will hurt us if we are disobedient to God’s will. In the end God will get the glory. So remember obedience isn’t a sacrifice; it’s a choice. God’s love is FREE and a gift to all who accept Him and His son Jesus Christ. I encourage each of you who read todays message to make the honest decision to be obedient to God’s plan for your life. We are human, yes we may muck up; but that doesn’t mean we have to stay there.
“I pray it (this message) will help someone that is going through whatever to stand back and let God be their driver. He will get you where He wants you to be and get you there with whatever you need. He will tell you what to do when you get there. Just trust God He has never, ever failed me yet! 🙏😇💕🌹
