A Missionary’s vision.

Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.

1 Timothy 4:12

I woke up at 4:58 with an old school gospel song by the Mississippi Mass Choir. The song is entitled “When I Rose this morning.” If you’ve never heard it, I urge you to jump start your morning and listen to it. I’m telling you, you won’t need Red Bull to give you wings, you’ll be floating on the Holy Spirit alone.

🎶 This morning when I rose, yeah
(I didn’t have no doubt)
This morning when I rose, yeah
(I didn’t have no doubt)
This morning when I rose, yeah
(I didn’t have no doubt)

I know the Lord (will take care of me)
I know the Lord (will provide for me)
And I know He will
(Lead and guide me all the way)
Yes, He will (Yes, all the way) 🎶

After the blessed day I had where I witnessed beautiful children of God aging from 6 to 79 go out and pray over two communities, hand out over 100+ door hangers to over 30 buildings while taking over 4000 steps in less than an hour is simply amazing to me!

🎵 I woke up this morning with the Holy Ghost
(I didn’t have no doubt)
I woke up this morning with the Holy Ghost
(I didn’t have no doubt)
I got up this morning with the Holy Ghost
(I didn’t have no doubt)

I felt like walking (felt like walking)
I felt like walking (felt like walking)
I felt like talking (felt like talking)
I felt like talking (felt like talking)
I felt like praying (felt like praying)
I felt like praying (felt like praying)

Oh, sing it (Felt like singing)
Oh, sing it (Felt like singing)
(Felt like singing)
(Felt like singing)

I felt like running (felt like running)
I felt like running (felt like running)
(Felt like running)
(Felt like running)

Yes, all the way… 🎵

It started with food and fellowship shortly after 9am which by the grace of God I was able to get done early and handle some running around for the boys and still get back to the church in time. I was so humbled when I walked through the door and noticed no one had eaten yet. Wesley stated they wouldn’t start without us and it warmed my heart because so often I don’t get to sit and fellowship over food with my brothers and sisters in Christ. We prayed, we ate, we laughed, we shared, we received, and we fellowshipped.

After breakfast we all took part in tidying up. I was very impressed by the young people whom did what they were asked to do without complaining. Anytime I don’t hear mumbling and grumbling from William and Emmanuel when I ask them to help me in the kitchen at church, I am so grateful.

Side note: I made homemade biscuits for the first time and although I thought they looked pretty, I was terribly afraid they would be nasty. To my surprise, Madison said they were very good and ate 3! I was so thankful for her, Faith, and Wesley’s encouragement and I truly appreciated how we all came together to have a grand meal. (My favorite were the eggs!)

Breakfast and clean up was over so it was time to head to Alcott Drive. When we first arrived it was quite chilly but after prayer, we came up with a plan and it was time to execute.

Starting at buildings 3 and 4, we moved from one building to the next. Dean noticed that we didn’t pray aloud at the first building so I asked Madison if she wouldn’t mind reciting Psalm 91. Walking from building to building it was a true blessing to hear Faith, Joshua (6), and Madison (7) recite Psalm 91.

We finished up with the first apartment complex and made it to the second one. Recognizing some familiar faces Dean and Wesley greeted several people. Madison saw a lady walking and decided to hand the door hanger to her and Joshua greeted her with a hug.

A few buildings later we heard loud chatter coming from one of the buildings. To my surprise we ran into two former RA’s. They spoke of Mr. Bill Montague and Dr. Richard Moore. They spoke about their days of being on the youth basketball team and then going into adulthood, competing at the adult level. I’ve had the privilege of watching Justin Coach the men’s league when Rico was on the team and it was so neat watching these men in action! Church league or not those men were shifty!

Mark 16:15 reads, And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. In that moment the gentleman ministered to us and validated that what we were doing meant something and he was appreciative. He stated he would come by to visit us, and I pray he does!

Walking away from the building I told Wesley how Rico always wanted to have a league back at ECBC where he could coach and he had dreams that one day ECBC would have its own community center with a gymnasium inside of it. Wesley quickly stated with Trevon Fordham’s vision of the 4 Block Promise Initiative happening in our region, it could possibly happen. What a wonderful way to get the community involved through sports, wellness, and education.

💭 I could see Faith educating so many community members through her platform, Diabetes Talk. I could see Wesley hosting community events alongside RCSD finest officers. I could see Kelly holding seminars for Koinonia scholars and families. Oh how I could see Ms Samuel, Ms Finch and others leading sewing classes and inviting students to help facilitate as they learn and grow. I could also see Tatayana and Jennifer having crafting activities, Bible study and more. The endless possibilities! 💭

As we made it back to the car I told William my mom would be so proud of him. A former Missionary President, my mom is in Heaven smiling ear to ear. She is glorifying God for how He is using Faith to raise disciples, prayer warriors, missionaries, and children who are actively the hands and feet of Jesus wherever they go. I once was the Jr. Missionary President and if you all saw the way Madison proudly went up the stairs and intentionally prayed over each door while handing either the person or placing a door hanger was remarkable.

This is a day I will never forget as long as I shall live. I’m already excited and looking forward to the next one.

Shout out to Dean, Wesley, Faith, Emmanuel, William, Elijah, Madison & Joshua for not thinking it was robbery to get out of your cozy bed to come and devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word (Acts 6:4.)

Thank you Eau Claire Baptist Church for the opportunity to serve God’s children and His community. I pray God is glorified and I pray someone felt His love today through our prayers and our interactions with them.

All is well.

  1. I am so glad the eggs were you favorite since I made them lol. I enjoyed myself praying for each building and door. I was glad that I found someone’s wallet on the ground with their social security card in it. I knocked on the door until a neighbor told me it was her neighbor’s upstairs and she just had a birthday night out. So I banged on the door like the police as I hope someone would do me. I would not want to lose a wallet with all my personal info in it. To my surprised a half topless woman came to the door and I was kind in shock looking down lol. She thanked me and informed me it was her birthday and she had a good ole time and could not find either of her I Phones either…well I invited her to church Lol which she was open to and her neighbor by the name of Jasmine. You never know who you gonna get to invite to church🤣😂. No judgement here period! I enjoyed the prayers before, in between and the ending prayer as we left. EJ started praying while everyone prayed the Lord’s prayer in unison. What a blessing today was for everyone. 🙌🙌🏻🙌🏼🙌🏾🙌🏿🙌🏾🙌🏿🙌🏾🙌🏿 To God be the Glory. Amen.

  2. Amen and amen!!!!!!!
