Mom are we still #1?

Emmanuel asked me last night, “Mom are we still #1?”

I responded we are still in the running and in God’s timing we will be number one, our breakthrough is coming we just have to continue to trust God.

To give you some background information: for those of you who don’t know my family and I are in the process of buying our first home. My boys were under the impression that once we got all of our money together then we would move. JUST LIKE THAT! I explained to them it wasn’t that easy. They didn’t understand my explanation so since my boys are all athletic I broke it down to them like we were running a race.

The joy that came over their faces when they finally understood the process.

So over the weekend we thought we found “the one”, sadly we were mistaken. Not only did the seller not accept our offer but she did not want to counter it at all. My kids were heartbroken when they found out we didn’t “win this race” but was enthusiastic to know we would continue running the race- just on a different course.

On yesterday while the house was quiet Rico and I snuck out to meet the realtor bright and early. Yes one could say “Whitnee’ on a Sunday.” Yes on a Sunday, we have to strike while the iron is hot.

Since this process has started we have been tardy to the party so many times, missed out on offers, or lost the battle- I look at it as those weren’t the houses God had for us.

Though I’m talking about house hunting today’s message is about breakthroughs!

Our breakthrough doesn’t come when we hear the offer got accepted, we are at closing, and we get our keys and free to move in NO SIREE!!! Our breakthrough came when we claimed spiritual peace over this process and we realized that no matter how many NO’s we received or will receive GOD has our YES. He knows what house is ours and He knows our wants and our needs.

Going back to scripture let’s take a moment to reread Psalm 103, if you have the time read it to it’s entirety.

Verse 1 says, Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His Holy name!

The Bible doesn’t say bless God once you have received what you have been in prayer for the Bible tells us we should praise His name AT ALL TIMES. So while we wait with anticipation we must still praise God for who He is. God is able and willing and can do and will do above and beyond. He will exceed our expectations and He will work things out for our good!

As we wait with anticipation as the Body of Christ we must grow closer to Him. Can I go as far as saying we must grow our faith. So many times we trust God with the minor things but God wants us to grow in a more intimate relationship with Him and we have trust Him with our life, with our family, with our finances, with our car, on the job, in the dark, through the good and the bad, and YES even while my family and I are on the hunt for our future home.

Verse 13 says, As a father pities his children, so the Lord pities those who fear Him.

God knows where we are weak, He know where we lack knowledge, and He knows where there is room for growth so like the word tells us He does not put more on us than we can bear. God knows when we are reaching our “breaking point” before we get there and He saves us. When we push to far and go past that point maybe we rushed through or sped through those warning signs, those speed bumps, ignored those gentle nudges from the Lord. But don’t get discouraged, it didn’t happen by mistake- yes the Lord allows things to happen for a reason.

I’ll give you an example I had to go in the office for a few hours yesterday and as I sat at my desk I caught up on my motivational calendar. Look at what the last few days read:

It’s not by chance that in this season and on this particular day I had to go to the office and that those words of encouragement were sitting right on my desk. I see the significance in these words at this very exact time while we are waiting with anticipation. I know our house is coming because God knows what we have gone through. He knows what we have lost while trying to get better. He knows what has been stolen and what has been coldly destroyed right underneath our own noses. He knows all about the mistreatment, the ridicule, the many days and nights of crying, the disappointments and so much more! He knows!!!!!

Can I tell you this morning THAT GOD KNOWS WHAT YOU ARE GOING THROUGH. GOD KNOWS WHAT YOU NEED AND WHEN YOU NEED IT. GOD KNOWS ALL ABOUT IT. And right when you think you can’t take it anymore, there is going to be a breakthrough.

I’ll be honest with you the weeks I didn’t write I was in a bad head space and I wasn’t reading the Word like I knew I should, I didn’t have the motivation to do anything, BUT on the Sunday before last while standing out in the rain talking to the people of God I saw “the light.” After this particular prayer it’s like a weight lifted off my shoulders. I had been holding so much in and it was so freeing to be able to release and talk about it and wrap it up in prayer. Which was the ultimate solution- casting my cares on the Lord who cares for me!

Shirley Caesar sung a song and said, “Get ready, get ready, get ready. You’re next in line for a miracle!

My sisters and brothers we are next in line for a miracle. Are you ready? I don’t know about you BUT I AM!!!! God is getting ready to do BIG THINGS.

Look how He used a fortune cookie to speak peace over my situation.

This was the “dessert” I received after partaking in a meal over prayer with my husband after we viewed a place that felt like it could be our home. Lord is it so? I’m waiting on the Lord to reveal what He has for us!

So again, no matter what you are going through don’t wait until God answers your prayer to bless His Holy name for the breakthrough you have already received.

So in conclusion, we are all still in this running, we are going to finish the race, and in God’s timing WE WILL BE #1!!!!!
