Writing with passion.

I was talking with a friend the other day and she mentioned the word purpose. When she mentioned the word purpose so many thoughts came to mind. As I eagerly responded in a way to shed light on how she is already walking in her purpose it made me do some self reflections.

You see when I was a little girl probably about 6 or 7 my paternal grandmother told my dad not to beat me, or to be politically correct not to spank me. As it was told to me, my grandmother stated that “Whitnee’ is going to have a way with her words” and that I should be allowed to speak freely in a sense.

Daddy listened to my Grandma Muder all except one time in my life. It was a day I will never forget. Regina, Shacara, and I were at the after school aka YMCA on-site at the time playing house. Next thing you know Regina wants to play with the fire hydrant. Regina, Shacara, and myself took our turns kicking at it until water came rushing out. I had never been so shock up in my life; I just knew I was about to get the “whooping” of my life. We had to face the wall until our parents came to pick us up if I’m not mistaken.

When my daddy came to pick me up I could have just died. If you would have seen the look on his face and when the staff lady was “snitching on me”, I just knew he was about to “wear me out!” And so he did!!! When we got home he told me to go in my room and wait on him. My brother was mischievous and used to get whoopings all the time and hearing the scream and cry while standing on the other side of the door used to make me go run and hide in my room. I just knew I didn’t ever want daddy to beat me. And then the nerve of him to make my brother go pick his own switch.

My brother used to pick the skinny small ones thinking it would hurt less. WRONG!!! That’s what daddy used on me and I clare it stung more than 100,000,000 bees on my behind! Now granted I got off lucky. He only got a chance to hit me one time with that switch and I remembered him saying “now Whitnee’ this is going to hurt me more than it’s going to hurt you.” Now that I think about it how did it hurt him more? Because he didn’t listen to what his mom said and not pop me or was he just trying to make me feel better?! The phone had rang and daddy had to go to work. Praise God was “saved by the bell.”

Just know it taught me a valuable lesson and it also showed me how naive I was. Just to let you know Regina was the ring leader!!!

Ever since that encounter my parents watered the seed that Grandma Muder had planted when I was just the tender age of 6 or 7.

Who knew I would be writing daily devotionals aka motivational texts?? Who knew I would have the desire to speak to young folks and encourage them like daddy used to encourage me? Who knew I would want to follow behind my mom and have girl circles not only in the home with Shanya and other little ladies but also to bring that model to try to help the girls in church for several years?

Who knew I could move past the pain of things that hurt me for so many years and turn it into something positive in hopes of encouraging someone. Who knew?

All these things have caused me to WRITE WITH A PASSION!

This text was received by my friend Kami; whom is the inspiration for today’s message.

So I turn and ask you, the ones who are taking the time to read today’s message: are you walking in your purpose are you writing, speaking, or sharing your gifts with passion? Are you allowing your God given talents to be a blessing to others around you? The Bible tells us in the Book of Ephesians around the 4th chapter that God blesses us so we can bless others.

Above I posted Ephesians 3:8-13. Let’s look into the dialogue a little bit closer. In verse 8 it reads:

To me, who am less than the least of all the saints, this grace was given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ.

Paul was shocked that the Lord would task him with building a church worldwide when he was one of the ones who tried to destroy the church.

God can use anyone for His glory. It doesn’t matter what your history is, your criminal record, your mistakes, your shortcomings, your ignorance or biases- God can snd will use you! The Bible says it’s just ONE of the unsearchable riches of Christ.

Like Kami I too can use my past hurts, pains, heartaches, and fears to write with passion as she speaks so beautifully and boldly with passion to everyone with such compassion and empathy. (I tell you Kami and Kim use their gift of speaking to encourage me every time I talk with them- or read their texts; they are generous souls who give of themselves selflessly to help the juveniles who are going through the Juvenile Justice system. True Godsends to all)

God is watching and is glorified every time we use our gifts, our talents, and we walk in our purpose and our passions to glorify His name. Every time we spread His love or we love His children. He is pleased.

In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will.

Ephesians 1:11 NKJV

So the questions have been asked and the seed has been planted. How will you begin or continue to write or speak with passion and walk in your God-given purpose?

Need help knowing what your purpose is? Have doubts and you don’t feel like God has given you a purpose or has yet to reveal it to you?

And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose. For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of His son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.

Romans 8:28-29

Now the word of the Lord came to me, saying, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, snd before you were born i consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”

Jeremiah 1:4-5

God had a plan for your life before you were even born. He created you WITH A PURPOSE! God did not make a mistake when He created you so stop wallowing around thinking you are a waste of space or you don’t know how you contribute. YOU ARE A PART OF HIS WONDERFUL PLAN! YOU ARE BLESSED! YOU WERE CHOSEN! You have a task and a purpose.

Walk in it!!!!

God has a plan for us all. Jeremiah 29:11 says: For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

So in closing it is my prayer that God may grant you your hearts desire and fulfill all your plans! It is my prayer that you walk, talk, write, shout, and praise knowing that WE ARE GOD’S WORKMANSHIP, created in Christ Jesus for GOOD WORKS. And lastly, I pray that we will each commit our ways to the Lord; trust in Him, and wait for the Lord to act.

Congratulations on writing and speaking and spreading the Word and love of our Heavenly Father. Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Continue to walk humbly in Christ. Be blessed.

  1. Thank you so very much for allowing God to inspire & use you to uplift others with my comments. It brought tears to my eyes. I thought I never figured out what I wanted to be & do but apparently God knew & placed me exactly where I needed to be!! 😇

  2. I am commenting on this again because I know what my purpose is and it is to serve God…I just have to walk in it and manifest it to past. Thanks Whitnee. This is one that needs to be reposted again. So many people need to start walking in their purpose now especially with what’s going on in the world now.

    1. Amen I agree. We have to step aside and let God work in and through us. Our world is suffering yet God is on the throne; something is wrong with that pic.
