Embedded in my soul.

You ever had to deal with something (good or bad) and found yourself listening to a recording, music, reading a book, or reciting a quote to keep going? It’s crazy how positive words can lead to a path of enlightenment, happiness, peace, and so much more. But on the opposite spectrum, negative words can cause depression, confusion, violence, hopelessness, fear, etc. So this morning I want us to dig deep. Ask yourself what is it that motivates you to keep going? What helps you ride that positive wave? What helps you get out of a bad funk? Simply what is embedded in you that lifts your spirits?

Please share your wisdom and drop your tips below in the comment section. I’m sure someone else may have the same response or could try your way and see if it works for them.

Personally speaking music is my number one go to. I’ll pop on a gospel song in a minute and listen to The Williams Brothers, The Canton Spirituals, Yolanda Adams, Shirley Ceasar, Anthony Brown, Marvin Sapp, Bishop Morton, Hezekiah Walker, Donnie McClurklin, and the list goes on. I’ll read the Word, read a devotional, and mostly read a quote as a quick go to. There is a guy at work who consistently sends out inspirational quotes in the mornings and I can’t tell you how many times it hit the nail on the head for me in regards to motivating me to keep pushing no matter how dim the road. Funny enough, it also motivates me to follow my dreams and live them in the present verses waiting for retirement age to really start living and doing what is passion for me verses what pays the bills.

It’s like I have a music box wired in my brain that constantly goes off to help me stay encouraged. Honestly speaking sometimes the genres switch on me (gospel is #1 for me) and depending on if it’s country, R&B, rap, or jazz it might affect my mood and if I’m not careful I can get in my feelings sometime but often enough I catch my slipping and turn away from those thoughts before I go off the deep end.

In our women’s support group D’Etta would do breathing exercises to help ease our mind, it felt like it released good endorphins and just helped relax your body all the way. Don’t let me get started on yoga!!! And to put the icing on the cake, the way Stephen (God rest his soul) and D’Etta allowed God to use them to minister to our souls was simply amazing. A gift words can’t describe. A feeling that can’t be ignored.

So friends again I ask, what is it that you can share with your fellow brothers and sisters that can lead them to a path of happiness. It may be a scripture, a song, a phrase, a quote, a line from a comedy show, something your grandma used to say…..

Don’t think too hard, remember whatever your “thing” or “go to is” it’s probably been embedded in you since childhood. Happy sharing time (scroll down and comment. Remember to like and subscribe too).

  1. Those gospels songs are embedded in me. My grandma had in the the church whether if I wanted to go or not. So all those artists you named are just a few. I believe I posted over 100 artists names and songs and encouragement on your page last year to encourage someone….I can’t remember the title of your inspiration but my encouragement runs deep. Lately I have been listening to be ye steadfast, unmoveable, always surrounded in the word of the Lord. I believe that’s by Florida Mass choir. Song talks about how your labor is not in vein. And just to stay encouraged and to keep going. I believe it came out in the 80s. I love the old gospel songs. They absolutely fill me with the spirit and my soul cries yes! I am filled with praises and songs and tears. Theses so gs help motivate me to keep going……and my second go to is inspirational sermons..
TD Jake’s, Steven Furtick…..those pwstors that get you standing on your feet and. Shouting Halleujah….the ones that’s got that “fire” LOL. Not literally but the ones that get them old feet and knees moving and get that heart full you got to do some laps around your house trying not to tear everything up or you got to do some laps around the neighbor hood or around your house shouting hallelujah cause God has been so good to you! And bump them nosey neighbors….but you got the ones that will join in with you too right? But anyways those are my go tos right there filor encouragement. Oh and my number three is to call on my two friends. My Whitnee and my Tati….who encourage me back to my right state of mind. It’s wonderful to have accountability friends…..whether if you want to hear it or not. God knew what he was doing when he gave me them. And oh besides encouraging and praying g for yourself as well is the first thing ai do with my gospel. Thanks Whitnee for this encouraging inspiration. I pray it helps someone on the way. It has helped me.

    1. Amen amen and amen.

And here is a quote for you from Tena Desae that the guy at my job sent this morning (it’s right on time and goes along with what I was saying):
“Stay positive and happy. Work hard and don’t give up. Be open to criticism and keep learning. Surround yourself with happy, warm, and genuine people.”

That raps up in a nutshell what you were saying here. Look at God!!!

  2. It’s a year later and I find myself right back here encouraging myself. Thank you Whitnee. I thank God for this website because it’s my outlet to not being able to be an outlet when I need to be. It helps me mentally when i am need of it. Right now I am listeing to God’s Children When I make it to Heaven. There voices bless my soul.

    1. Praise God!

And thank you for encouraging me with your words of kindness.

I pray God will continue to use me to help encourage others while He ministers to me.

      God bless you!
